Background: Misophonia is considered a complex neurophysiological and behavioural disorder of multifactorial origin, characterised by physiological, emotional and behavioural hyper-reactivity to specific sounds. A variant that prevents comparison of data from other studies is the type of instrument used to evaluate the subjects; currently there is a diversity of instruments developed in other Anglo-American countries that require cross-cultural adaptation, since this process does not exist for the Mexican population. Objective: The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the Duke Misophonia Questionnaire (DMQ) into Mexican Spanish. Material and methods: This is a study with an instrument validation design in which the first phase of the process called Translation and Cultural Adaptation will be carried out in accordance with the Ramada-Rodilla method on translation, cultural adaptation and validation, consisting of translation direct, synthesis, reverse translation, consolidation by committee of experts and pre-test. Results: A translated and culturally adapted version was obtained for the Mexican population. The final questionnaire has semantic, experimental, conceptual and idiomatic congruence. Conclusions: A questionnaire translated and adapted to Mexican Spanish was obtained, which concludes the first phase of the procedure for the translation, cultural adaptation and validation of questionnaires. At this point you can continue with the second validation phase.
